In continuing with our sermon series through 1 Corinthians, Pastor Jay Jesuroga preached on “Four Principles to Help Us Avoid Sexual Immorality” from 1 Corinthians 6:12-20.
The outline is as follows:
- 4 Principles to Help Us Avoid Sexual Immorality
- Know that sexual immorality is harmful and engenders bondage
- We need to have a high view of the body
- Two erroneous ways of thinking about the body:
- One’s sexual appetite is the same as other appetites (like eating and drinking) and thus must be satisfied however
- The body is just temporary so it doesn’t matter what you do with it
- Two erroneous ways of thinking about the body:
- We need to know who the rightful owner of our body is
- Our bodies of the temple of the Holy Spirit
After Pastor Jay explained why sexual sin will harm us and showed us how it also enslaves us, he drew out the principle dealing with how we should act when it comes to issues that the Bible neither affirms nor condemns. Asking whether or not it will enslave us or benefit us. (2 minute clip):

As we learned in this sermon, sexual immorality is a serious sin. Thankfully God has much to say about this issue in His Word. Previously we featured on this blog The Resolved ’09 Conference that dealt with issues of sexual sin and fighting sin. Here are three of the many that would be beneficial to supplement yesterday’s sermon:
