REMINDER: No service tonight (July 23, 2010).

Since our service is cancelled tonight, we thought we would highlight one of our Friday sermons, specifically last Friday’s sermon from James 1:22-25 entitled, “Word-hearers & Word-doers” by Pastor Jay Jesuroga which comes from our sermon series through James.

With as much doctrine and teaching we get at our church, this was an especially important message for us to hear and meditate on. Pastor Jay starts off by explaining how being “doers of the word and not hearers only” is the main point of the entire book of James (2 minute clip below):

Pastor Jay went on to explain how right doctrine should change us and is not just for our heads alone but also for our hearts to change us, even saying, “…You might be a 5-point Calvinist… but, my friends, if your life is not lining up to the Word of God it could just be an intellectual assent to doctrine…” (4 minute clip):

After a long introduction, he went through the following 3 points:

  • The Command to Word-doing
  • Word-hearers Illustrated
  • Word-doers Illustrated

So what is a Word-doer doing and what are the results? (2 minute clip):
