Schneider (Missionary to Chile) Update Jul/Aug ’10

Posted on October 19, 2010 in Blog, Congregational Resources, Evangelism/Missions

This is a little late, but this is the last update we have from Steve Scheider (see previous ones here):

“…All of the Chilean Christians have been so welcoming to us and we have enjoyed very much all of their services and classes that we have attended.

We are thankful that on Tuesday, August 10th, Steve taught for three hours the Biblical Counseling class in Spanish at the 4-year seminary program at the Facultad, which he had also taught at our church in Costa Rica. He has been invited to complete his teaching in this area of Biblical Counseling next week.

Praise the Lord that Steve has been asked to help further develop the Expository Preaching program in the 4-year program… Steve’ s greatest desire is to train men to be expositors of the Word, as is Doug’ s desire also. We are humbled that Steve is having this opportunity to be involved at this level so early upon our arrival here. This has further encouraged us to see the Lord’s hand in directing us here to serve in Santiago.

Steve and Doug are also in discussions on developing an expository preaching institute for the national pastors, who are already in ministry, as well as expanding the 2-year institute program to include course(s) in expository preaching. Over the past couple of years, the attendance in the 4-year program has been lower than in past years, but we are encouraged to have about 150 students in the 2-year program. Some of these student will pursue further training for pastoral ministry in the Facultad…”
