Lord’s Supper: Theological Truths

In continuing with our sermon series through 1 Corinthians, Pastor Jay Jesuroga preached on “4 Theological Truths Taught in the Lord’s Supper” from 1 Corinthians 11:23-26.

The outline is as follows:

Four Theological Truths Taught in the Lord’s Supper:

  1. Substitution (1 Cor. 11:23-24a)
  2. Rememberation (1 Cor. 11:24b-25)
  3. Inauguration (1 Cor. 11:25)
  4. Anticipation (1 Cor. 11:26)

One thing the Lord’s Supper teaches us about is substitutionary atonement. Pastor Jay explains this in detail in the 3 minute clip below:

All throughout the Old Testament we see God calling His people to remember His great acts of redemption. In the Lord’s supper we are called to remember God’s primary work… the cross of Christ. This will help us to be a gospel/Christ-centered people (4 minutes):

What does the cup, in the Lord’s Supper, represent? (1 minute):
