This time is to celebrate and encourage the Mothers and Fathers at the home. If you want to bake a pie or donate ice cream but can’t come on Saturday let me know and you could either bring it Friday night or maybe send it with someone who is coming. There are many people there who will be very encouraged by this time and professing brothers and sisters who will be so thankful for time with brothers and sisters in the Lord.

Here are some details about the Family Camp that Pastor Jay announced several weeks back:
8th Annual Reformed Baptist Family Camp
Hosted by Heritage Baptist Church, Mansfield, TX
March 26-29, 2014.
Location: Lakeview Methodist Conference Center, Palestine, TX
From the camp coordinator:
In 2013 we had our seventh annual Reformed Baptist Family Camp at Lakeview Methodist Conference Center in Palestine, TX. It was a wonderful time of preaching, encouragement, fellowship, and fun. Our speaker for 2013 was Dr. Fred Malone of First Baptist Church, Clinton, Louisiana who preached on the topic of “The Family.”
Our speaker for this year is Pastor Ron Baines, Grace Reformed Baptist Church, Topsham, Maine. Pastor Baines’ theme will be “Lessons from the Historical Books of the Old Testament.”
The Elders at Heritage Baptist Church and I would like to invite you to be a part of this opportunity. All of the details are listed out on the attached flyer [below]. I will also send a brochure in a separate email due to its size. Please notice that a few of the housing options are based on limited availability, so please let me know if you are interested in any of these. We are asking that all registrations and payments, if possible, be turned into Heritage Baptist Church, Mansfield by March 5, 2014.
Wednesday, March 26 is an “optional” day at Lakeview. Those wanting to participate can arrive at the camp as early as Wednesday afternoon to enjoy the facilities. There will be an additional cost for housing for Wednesday night. If you or someone in your church is interested in this option, please let me know as soon as possible.
Let us know if you want more details.

In other words, we will begin “passing the plate”. Pastor Jay will be giving reasons for this during announcements, though you can hear much more detail on this from his recent sermon Four Principles of Giving [from Philippians 4:15-19]
The main points from that sermon were:
- Giving is a response to the Gospel of Grace (Philippians 4:15-16 | Luke 7:36-47 | 2 Cor. 9:7)
- Giving is a great investment (Philippians 4:17 | Prov. 11:25, 19:17 | 2 Cor. 9:6)
- Giving is a spiritual sacrifice of worship (Philippians 4:18)
- We do not need to be selfish with our giving since ‘my God will supply all your needs’ (Philippians 4:19 | Matt. 6:25-33)
This will be incorporated into our order of worship service (liturgy) like so:
- Pastoral prayer for God to bless our worship of Him (announcements are done before this)
- Call to worship (from the Scriptures)
- Worship through singing (typically including one Psalm)
- Offering (beginning with hearing from God’s Word on offering, giving, stewardship, etc. Followed by passing the plate as we sing a song that speaks of God’s provision (general and/or special grace)
- One more song of worship
- Pastoral prayer for God to bless His Word read and preached
- Reading of the Word of God
- Lord’s Supper (last Sunday of every month)
- Closing pastoral prayer
- Sing one more song in response to God’s Word
- Baptism (when needed)
For more on offering and financial giving:
On the last Wednesday of every month there will be a time for Jr. High and Sr. High students to meet and discuss a book that the kids will have read. We will meet at the same time as the Men’s and Women’s Bible study, at the church.
The book will be chosen by Jacek and Pastor Jay. The first book we will be discussing is “The Magician’s Nephew” (The Chronicles of Narnia) by C.S. Lewis. We will take four months to go through this book. It is broken down into sections listed below.
If you don’t have access to this book, either through the library or a friend, please let Melinda and Jacek know. We can order one when needed.
If you have any questions, please feel free to talk with Jacek & Melinda, or Pastor Jay.
